Dear Akshaya,
If someone had told me at the beginning of my final year that a single day would completely change my life, I probably wouldn't have believed them. But looking back now, everything started with one unexpected moment.
When the first-year students joined college, our class organized a small game for them. I was assigned to monitor two teams, and you happened to be in one of them. That was the very first time I saw you. I didn't know your name, I didn't know anything about you, but something felt strangely familiar. It was as if I had seen you somewhere before, even though I couldn't remember where. That thought stayed in my mind for days.
After that day we didn't meet again, and we never even had a proper conversation. Still, I couldn't stop thinking about you. I searched for your Instagram again and again without even knowing your username. It took days before I finally found your profile. It might seem like a small thing now, but at that time it felt like I had found something I had been looking for all along.
I still remember sending you that first "Hey." I had no idea where that one message would lead us. Slowly our conversations became longer. We talked on Instagram, then on WhatsApp, and before I realized it, talking to you had become the best part of my day. Every notification from you made me smile.
As my seventh semester was coming to an end, I became scared. I knew that if I kept my feelings to myself, I might regret it for the rest of my life. I wanted to tell you in person because I felt you deserved to hear it face to face, but time wasn't on my side. I was nervous, overthinking everything, wondering what you would think about me.
Finally, on 24 October 2025, I gathered all the courage I had and told you that I loved you. I still remember how fast my heart was beating. When you replied that we should get to know each other first, I respected your answer. Even then, I felt hopeful because at least you knew how I truly felt.
Then came 28 October 2025 at 6:35 in the evening—a moment I'll never forget. While we were chatting, you told me that you wanted to say something. And then you said "Yes." I don't think words can describe how happy I was. I wanted to hug you right then and there, but nearly seventy kilometres separated us. That was probably the only thing I disliked about that day. Even though I couldn't hold your hand, my heart had never felt closer to anyone.
The first time we met after becoming a couple, on 14 November 2025 after my exam, became one of the happiest days of my life. Seeing you in person after everything we had shared through messages felt unreal. Every meeting after that became another memory I wanted to keep forever.
Even today we are still in a long-distance relationship, and yes, there are moments when I wish you were beside me instead of kilometres away. There are so many times I simply want to hug you, hold your hand, or just sit beside you without saying anything. But distance has never changed how I feel about you. If anything, it has only made me appreciate every moment we get together even more.
Sometimes I think about what would have happened if I had never sent that message on 24 October. Maybe our story would never have started. Maybe I would have spent the rest of my life wondering, "What if?" I'm so grateful that I found the courage to tell you how I felt, because that decision brought the most wonderful person into my life.
Thank you for trusting me, for choosing me, for loving me, and for becoming such an important part of my life. Thank you for every conversation, every smile, every laugh, every little memory we've created together. You've made my ordinary days feel special just by being in them.
I know life won't always be easy. There will be challenges, misunderstandings, busy days, and moments when distance feels difficult. But no matter what comes our way, I want you to know that I will always choose us. I want to be the person who stands beside you through every good day and every difficult one.
We've only written the first few chapters of our story, and I already love every page. There are still so many memories waiting for us, so many dreams to achieve together, and so many beautiful moments we haven't even imagined yet. I can't wait to experience all of them with you.
I love you more than I can ever put into words, Akshaya. Thank you for being my happiness, my comfort, my best friend, and the greatest blessing that entered my life when I least expected it.
Forever yours,
Anandhu ❤️
